Grigore Baștan was a Romanian major general and parachutist, born on January 23, 1922, in Flămînzeni, Bălți County, Romania. He was part of the first military parachute company in Romania and contributed significantly to the re-establishment of the first parachute battalion in 1950. An innovator in parachute materials, he created notable parachute designs such as the BG-7M and BG-3m. In 1970, he set a national record for parachuting from 10,000 meters, and in 1971, he became the first Romanian parachutist general, serving until his retirement in 1979.
