Grigory Grigoryevich Kotovsky (February 6, 1923 – October 24, 2001) was a Soviet and Russian orientalist, indologist, historian, and public figure who made significant contributions to the study of Indian history. He authored over 500 scientific works and was a laureate of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Award. Kotovsky founded and led the Russian-Indian Commission for Cooperation in Social Sciences. From 1956 until 2001, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. His main research interests focused on the economic and social history of India in the 19th and 20th centuries.
