Grigory Mikhailovich Schtender (May 25, 1927 - August 17, 1992) was a prominent Soviet and Russian architect-restorer, architectural historian, and artist. He became a candidate of architecture in 1985 and was a professor at Novgorod University starting in 1989. Schtender was one of the founders of the Novgorod restoration school and authored over 60 works on the theory and practice of restoration. He was a member of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR and the Union of Architects. He posthumously received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in 1996.
