Grigory Nikolaevich Sevostyanov was a Soviet and Russian historian born on March 23, 1916, in the Don Cossack Region. He specialized in the recent history of the United States and international relations. Sevostyanov obtained his Doctor of Historical Sciences degree in 1960 and became a professor in 1964. He was an Academic of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since December 23, 1987, and served as the chief editor of the journal 'New and Contemporary History' from 1982 until his passing on March 12, 2013, in Moscow.
