Gro Schibsted Sandvik is a prominent Norwegian flutist born on October 2, 1942, in Sarpsborg, Norway. She was the principal flute of the Bergen Philharmonic from 1967 to 2004 and was previously with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. A member of the renowned Bergen Woodwind Quintet since 1967, she has performed globally and held residency at the University of Minnesota. Sandvik is known for her solo and chamber music performances, including works composed for her, and she has notably premiered John Corigliano's Concerto for Flute with a youth ensemble.
