Guido Gay is an Italian engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and explorer born on January 5, 1939. He developed a new type of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for marine exploration and specialized sonar systems. In 1993, he launched the Daedalus catamaran for sonar exploration and ROV operation. Gay discovered significant modern wrecks, including the SS Transylvania and the battleship Roma, and documented over 40 archaeological sites from ancient shipwrecks. His contributions to marine exploration have been recognized with awards, including a silver medal for merit in the Navy.
