Guillaume de Van, born William Carrolle Devan on July 2, 1906, in Memphis, was a French musicologist and choral conductor of American origin. After studying at Princeton University, he trained in Gregorian chant in Rome. In the early 1930s, he became a choir conductor, notably founding Les Paraphonistes de Saint-Jean des Matines in 1935. He recorded several medieval vocal works and transcribed Messe de Nostre Dame by Machaut. From 1942 to 1944, he served as curator of music at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and was later suspended after the Liberation.
