Günay Tümer (1938 — August 22, 1995) was a Turkish scholar and theologian, recognized as the second individual in Turkey to earn a doctoral degree in the field of Religious History. His significant areas of academic interest included the life and works of al-Biruni, the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mary, religion, the history of religions, the expression of religion, religious education, and religious-societal and religious-state relations, as well as the balance between peace and the afterlife in religions and missionary activities.
