He is renowned for his research in structural mechanics, particularly in finite element methods, structural analysis, and smart materials. He contributed to developing FEAST, a program for laboratory research and industrial applications, especially in rocket system design and analysis. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science with a PhD, he has numerous peer-reviewed publications and citations. In 2003, he became a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1989.
