Günther Wendt (1931-2017) was a German officer who served as a Major General and deputy chief of staff in the East German National People's Army (NVA). Starting his career in the German police, he rose through various military ranks from the early 1950s to 1990. Wendt played significant roles in the operational management and organizational planning of the NVA and was a member of the Socialist Unity Party. He passed away in Wildpark-West at the age of 86.
