He made history as the first amputee jockey to win a horse race at a professional racetrack in Britain, accomplishing this feat on 17 February 2017, when he won the Royal Artillery Gold Cup at Sandown Park Racecourse on his horse, Rathlin Rose, trained by David Pipe. A former British Army serviceman, Disney dedicated his victory to his fallen colleagues from Afghanistan.
