Dame Gwendolyn Moreen Tonge MBE (1923-2012) was an Antiguan teacher and home economist. She served as the head of the Women's Desk in the government, a precursor to the Directorate of Gender Affairs. After being appointed as a senator, she worked in the Prime Minister's office focusing on women's policies. Tonge gained fame as Auntie Gwen, hosting the cooking show 'Cooking Magic' from the 1960s until her death, which became the longest-running television series in the Eastern Caribbean. She was honored with the MBE and other distinctions.
