Gwenethe Walshe (1908-2006) was a prominent British Latin and ballroom dancer who significantly contributed to the evolution of Latin dance in England. Born in Wanganui, New Zealand, she moved to England in 1936 and established a dance school in the West End by 1938, still operational as Central London Dance. During WWII, she balanced her work as a WVS nurse with running dance classes. A key figure in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, she helped develop teaching frameworks and competed successfully with partner Dimitri Petrides.
