Gyosai Tamura (November 23, 1914 - March 25, 1991) was a Japanese culinary researcher born in Shizuoka Prefecture. After graduating from elementary school, he apprenticed at a fish shop in Tokyo. He learned cooking at Kyobashi Tsutaya and trained under Motoyama Ogyu and Taijiro Ishii. In 1938, he founded the magazine 'Gyosai-en'. Later, he opened a cooking school in Jiyugaoka in 1949 and established Gyosai Gakuen in 1955. He gained fame through television cooking shows starting in 1973. After his death, his wife Chizuko Tamura became the head of the school.
