Hendrik Bernardus Thom (1905–1983) was an acclaimed Afrikaans writer and historian who played a significant role in the cultural life of the Afrikaner people. He authored several important historical books and served in various cultural and historical organizations. Thom was the chairman of the Archives Commission from 1950 to 1955 and a member of the Historical Monuments Commission. He was also the chairman of the Federation of Afrikaans Cultural Associations for eighteen years and served as the administrator of the Dictionary of the Afrikaans Language.
