H. R. Jothipala, whose full name is Hettiarachchige Reginald Jothipala, was a renowned Sri Lankan playback singer, actor, and producer, born on 12 February 1936. He was the most celebrated playback singer in Sri Lankan cinema, providing his voice for numerous actors throughout his career. Jothipala also had experience as an opera singer. His illustrious career lasted until his untimely death on 7 July 1987 at the age of 51.
