He specializes in development economics and serves as a reader in political economy at the University of Cambridge. Chang has authored several widely discussed policy books, notably 'Kicking Away the Ladder: Development Strategy in Historical Perspective' (2002). In 2013, Prospect magazine named him one of the top 20 global thinkers. He has worked as a consultant for various international organizations, including the World Bank and Oxfam, and is involved with the 'Academics Stand Against Poverty' initiative.
