Habib Al Sayegh (1955 - 2019) was an Emirati poet and writer born in Abu Dhabi. He earned a philosophy degree in 1977 and a master's in linguistics in 1998 from the University of London. He worked in journalism and culture, serving as editor-in-chief of Al Khaleej newspaper and led the UAE Writers Union. He was the first Gulf Arab to serve as the secretary general of the Arab Writers Union. A prolific poet, he published over 10 poetry collections, and his works were translated into several languages. He passed away on August 20, 2019, at the age of 64.
