Educated at King's College, Cambridge, he specialized in peptide hormones and became a Life Fellow. Throughout his career, he held various academic positions, published extensively, and was involved in editorial work for prominent scientific journals. He passed away in 2008, and a set of rooms at King's College was named in his honor.
