Halina Julia Biernacka Smolenski, known as Dona Halina, was a Polish ballerina born on August 24, 1914, in Zakopane, Poland. She settled in Brazil, where she dedicated herself to teaching Classical Ballet using the Vaganova method. Over her career, she trained many professional dancers who performed in Brazil and abroad. One of her most notable students was Cecília Kerche, who became the principal dancer at the Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Halina passed away in 2005 in São Paulo, Brazil.
