Motohiko Hamase (born April 15, 1952) is a Japanese jazz and ambient musician known for his work on double bass and electronics. He has been active in the Japanese jazz scene since the 1970s, performing with the Isao Suzuki Sextet and participating in numerous recording sessions. Hamase transitioned to ambient music in the mid-1980s, releasing several solo albums including 'Intaglio' and 'Reminiscence.' He also led the Motohiko Hamase E.L.F Ensemble, contributing to the evolution of jazz and ambient genres in Japan.
