Hamish John Campbell is a New Zealand geologist and paleontologist born on April 29, 1953, in Christchurch. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Otago in 1975 and earned a Master's from the University of Auckland in 1978, followed by a PhD from Cambridge in 1985. He has worked at the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Science since 1978 and is known for his popular science book about New Zealand's geology, television appearances, and exhibitions at Te Papa Tongarewa. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
