Dr. Hans Asperger was an Austrian pediatrician and therapist known for his work in the field of autism. He was the first to describe what is now known as Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism. During the Nazi regime, he was a member of a commission that assessed children at the Spiegelgrund facility, where many described as 'hopeless cases' were murdered. Asperger himself did not participate in these murders. His writings were primarily in German and he gained international recognition only in the 1980s, thanks largely to British psychologist Lorna Wing.
