Hans Jørgen Whitta-Jacobsen is a Danish economics professor, born on September 29, 1955. He served as the chairman of the Economic Council from 2010 to 2015, also known as the overvismand. He obtained his cand.polit. degree in 1984 and completed his Ph.D. in economics in 1989, both from the University of Copenhagen. He has been employed at the Economic Institute of the University of Copenhagen since 1984, becoming a lecturer from 1991 to 2002 and a professor since 2002. His research focuses on macroeconomic theory, public economics, and labor mobility.
