Hans August Mikosch is a retired German evangelical theologian born on February 3, 1948, in Eisenach. He studied Protestant theology at the University of Jena from 1966 to 1972 and was ordained in 1974. His career included serving as a pastor and later as superintendent and Oberkirchenrat in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia. He became a Propst and Regional Bishop after the church merger in 2009 and served until his retirement in 2011. Mikosch is married to a theologian and has one son.
