Hans T. Sternudd is a Swedish performance artist, scenographer, and art scholar born on May 13, 1955. He grew up in Norrland and currently resides in Skåne. His work is influenced by German expressionism and action painting, focusing on ritualistic and religious aspects of performance art. He performed under the name 'the belacqua project' from 1992 to 2006, and has collaborated with butoh artist Susanna Åkerlund since 2004. Sternudd obtained his Ph.D. in 2004, specializing in performance art, and leads a research project on self-harm imagery funded by the Swedish Research Council.
