Harald B. Giesel was a German manager and economist born on May 19, 1939, in Ulm. He completed his studies in economics at the University of Freiburg and earned his doctorate in 1968 from Ruhr University Bochum. Giesel then worked at Ruhrkohle AG, where he served as chairman. He also taught energy economics and energy policy at Ruhr University Bochum starting in 1976 and was appointed Honorary Professor in 1990. He passed away on October 28, 2012, and lived in Essen.
