Harold Carter was a Welsh human geographer born on April 14, 1925, in Neath, Wales. He became a research assistant at Aberystwyth in 1949 and later served as a Professor of Human Geography at Gregynog from 1969 to 1983. Between 1983 and his retirement in 1986, he was the Director of the Department of Geography at Aberystwyth. Additionally, he was an Emeritus Professor at the same university and published works on urban geography and the Welsh language. He gained recognition in the literary community by joining the Gorsedd of the Bards in 1989.
