Harold E. 'Bud' Foster was a notable American basketball player and coach, born on May 30, 1906, in Newton, Kansas. He played for the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 1926 to 1930, earning All Big Ten honors. Foster led the Oshkosh All-Stars to a Midwest championship and later coached the Wisconsin Badgers, winning the 1941 NCAA title. He served as president of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and was influential on the Basketball Rules Committee. Foster's 266 career wins were a school record until 2012.
