Harold G. Schrier was a United States Marine Corps lieutenant colonel known for his bravery during World War II and the Korean War. He played a crucial role in capturing Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima, where he helped raise the first U.S. flag on February 23, 1945, for which he received the Navy Cross. Schrier was also wounded in the Korean War at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. He later appeared as himself in the film 'Sands of Iwo Jima', sharing a significant moment with Hollywood actor John Wayne.
