Harold Earnest Taft Jr. (1922-1991) was a prominent television meteorologist known as 'The World's Greatest Weatherman' and 'The Dean of TV Meteorologists.' He was the first TV meteorologist west of the Mississippi River, serving for an impressive 41 years. Born in Enid, Oklahoma, he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and studied meteorology at the University of Chicago. Although he was mistakenly credited with helping to set the date for the D-Day invasion, he contributed to weather-related tactical planning during the Korean War.
