He became the Liberal Party representative for York County in the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly in 1944 and served until 1952, after which he became President of the New Brunswick Liberal Association. Corey's lumber operations in New Brunswick employed over 500 people, and his wife, Nelda, played an active role in the business. He is a descendant of Loyalists and planters who settled in the region.
