Harry Atwater is an American physicist known for his research in nanophotonics and plasmonics, particularly in solar energy conversion. He has contributed to the development of novel solar cells and manufacturing methods for tandem solar cells using III-V compound semiconductors. As a professor at Caltech and founder of the Resnick Sustainability Institute, he has published approximately 450 scientific papers and holds 48 patents. Atwater has received numerous awards, including the Julius Springer Prize for Applied Physics and the Presidential Young Investigator Award.
