Harry Kent Newsome Jr. is a former NFL punter born on January 25, 1963, in Cheraw, South Carolina. He played high school football at Cheraw High School and collegiately at Wake Forest, where he earned Third-team All-American honors. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1985, he played five years with them and four years with the Minnesota Vikings. Newsome holds the record for the longest punt in Three Rivers Stadium and shares the record for the most blocked punts in NFL history. After retirement, he founded a landscaping company and resides in Cheraw, South Carolina.
