Haruo Higashi is a former announcer from Miyazaki Broadcasting, born on July 5, 1945, in Takaharu, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from Kōbayashi High School and Nihon University College of Art. After joining Miyazaki Broadcasting in 1968, he served until 2001. He ran for the House of Councilors in 2001 and 2007 but was unsuccessful. Higashi is an advocate for volunteer work, particularly for the disabled, and has served as president of the Miyazaki Wataboushi Group, where he received the Yomiuri Shimbun Social Welfare Award.
