Haytham Manna, originally named Haytham Al-Odatt, is a Syrian researcher and human rights activist, born on May 16, 1951, in Daraa. He served as the former president of the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change in Syria and as the spokesperson for the Arab Committee for Human Rights. His father, lawyer Yusuf Nasser Al-Odatt, was a political opposition figure who was imprisoned for 18 years by the Syrian intelligence services. Manna chose the last name 'Manna' in memory of his first wife, Mona, who tragically died shortly after their marriage.
