Héctor Fernando Maseda Gutiérrez (born January 18, 1943) is an independent Cuban journalist and former nuclear physicist. He was arrested during Cuba's Black Spring in March 2003 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for actions against state integrity, but was released after eight years in February 2011. Maseda began his journalism career in 1995 and co-founded the independent news agency Grupo de Trabajo Decoro. He has written extensively about history, economics, and culture, both before and during his imprisonment, where he managed to write his memoirs titled 'Enterrados vivos'.
