Heinz Parkus (January 31, 1909 – March 18, 1982) was an Austrian physicist and professor at the Technical University of Vienna. He is well-known among technicians for his widely used textbook 'Mechanik der festen Körper'. Parkus began his academic career in 1945 as a strength of materials assistant, achieving his habilitation in 1948. He spent three years as a professor at Michigan State University before returning to Vienna in 1955 as a full professor of mechanics. Over his career, he influenced over 10,000 engineering students and published numerous significant works.
