Helen Gillian Oxenbury, born on June 2, 1938, is an acclaimed British children's book illustrator known for her extensive work in the field and for winning numerous awards for her illustrations. Raised in Ipswich, Suffolk, Oxenbury developed a passion for drawing early in life and attended art college during her teens. She initially pursued a career in theatre, film, and television. Influenced by her partnership with fellow children's book illustrator John Burningham, she has illustrated many books, including a series about a mischievous boy named Tom and his soft monkey toy friend Pippo.
