Henning Dahl Mikkelsen was a Danish cartoonist and writer, born on January 9, 1915, in Skive and died on June 4, 1982, in California. He is best known for creating the silent comic strip Ferd'nand, which gained international popularity and became the longest-running and best-selling Danish comic. At the age of 17, he designed the logo for Bang & Olufsen, and he illustrated the series De gamle guder, which focused on Nordic mythology. After World War II, he moved to America, becoming a citizen in 1954 and eventually passing on Ferd'nand to other artists.
