Henning J. Pieterse, born on August 8, 1960, in Wageningen, Netherlands, is an Afrikaner writer and poet. He studied in Stellenbosch and Pretoria before earning his degree (DLitt et Phil) from UNISA in 1995. He served as an associate professor for Afrikaans and Dutch at UNISA and is currently the Head of the Creative Writing Unit at the University of Pretoria. Pieterse was the editor of Tydskrif vir Letterkunde from 1993 to 2002 and co-founded Die Bekbrekers. His works have garnered several prestigious awards throughout his career.
