Frederick Hendrik (Henry) Habibe is an Aruban poet and literary critic born on May 6, 1940, in Aruba. He is known for his poetry written primarily in Papiamento, and also in Spanish and Dutch. After establishing his magazine Watapana, he earned a PhD in 1985 at the University of Leiden, focusing on Afro-Caribbean poetry. Additionally, he has written reviews for various Antillian newspapers and has contributed to the advisory board of the Caribbean Study group of Arts in the Netherlands.
