He was educated at Cork Grammar School and Trinity College Dublin, where he specialized in modern languages. Ordained as a deacon in 1939 and as a priest in 1940, he held several esteemed positions, including Dean of Cork and Bishop of Ossory, Ferns, and Leighlin. A strong advocate for the ordination of women, McAdoo was the first Anglican co-chairman of the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission. He passed away on December 10, 1998.
