Sir Herbert Andrew McVeigh, also known as Bertie McVeigh, was a prominent judge in Northern Ireland. Born on December 8, 1908, in Derry, he pursued his education at Foyle College and Queen's University Belfast, becoming a barrister in 1931. McVeigh achieved the title of Queen's Counsel in 1948 and was appointed as a High Court judge in 1956. His judicial career continued as he was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1964 and subsequently to the Privy Council of Northern Ireland in 1965. He passed away on October 3, 1977.
