Herzi Halevi is an Israeli general born on December 17, 1967. Since January 16, 2023, he has served as the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, succeeding Aviv Kochavi. Halevi joined the military in 1985, served in the Paratroopers Brigade, and commanded various units including Sayeret Matkal and Military Intelligence. He participated in key conflicts such as the First and Second Intifadas and the 2006 Lebanon War. He holds degrees in philosophy and intelligence from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the National Defense University.
