He graduated from Chuo University and founded the Seiki Kai in 1946, fostering young amateurs. He began publishing 'Kindai Shogi' in 1950 and hosted the NHK Cup from 1981 to 1994. He had a close relationship with renowned player Yoshiharu Habu and authored several books about shogi. In recognition of his contributions, he received the 1st Oyamakyoharu Award and was honored as an Amateur 8-dan in 2007.
