Vice Admiral Hidemi Yoshida was a distinguished Japanese naval officer who had a long career in the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1919 until 1945. After the war, he continued to serve in the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) from 1954 to 1958. Notably, he was the first commander of the Self Defense Fleet, a position he held from 1954 until his successor, Vice Admiral Yasumaro Kiguchi, took over.
