Hidenori Takagi is a prominent Japanese solid-state physicist, born on March 20, 1961, in Tokyo. He studied Applied Physics at the University of Tokyo, earning his doctorate in 1989. After a postdoctoral stint at ATT Bell Laboratories, he became Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo in 1994 and a full Professor in 1999. He has been the director of the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart since 2013 and holds a Humboldt Professorship. His research focuses on metal-insulator transitions, high-temperature superconductivity, and quantum magnetism.
