Hideo Murai (April 5, 1958 – April 23, 1995) was a Japanese physicist and member of the Aum Shinrikyō cult, known for his involvement in the 1995 Tokyo subway sarin gas attack. He was reportedly the third highest-ranking member in the Aum hierarchy, following Shōkō Asahara and Kiyohide Hayakawa. Murai led the cult’s Ministry of Science and Technology, where he contributed to the development of the group’s criminal activities. His actions played a significant role in one of Japan's most notorious terrorist acts.
