Hidezō Kondō was a Japanese press manga artist known for his portraits. He was born on February 15, 1908, in Inariyama, Nagano, and passed away in Tokyo on March 23, 1979. After completing his secondary education in 1926, he moved to Tokyo and became an apprentice to Ippei Okamoto in 1928. In 1932, Kondō founded the New Manga Society and began working for the Yomiuri shinbun the following year. He received the Purple Ribbon Medal in 1974 and the Kan-Kikuchi Prize in 1975.
